How we collect rates
How the rates are collected
DinarView reports the open-market rate from across Iraq as it moves. DinarView is not an exchange office.
Collection
Buy and sell are read from the public rate boards of named exchange offices in Erbil and Baghdad, every ten minutes through the trading day. The headline dinar rate is DinarView’s own collection, and the official rate is the Central Bank’s table.
Checking
Every reading is checked against a plausibility band around the feed’s own rate before it is stored. A board that has not moved for a day and a half, or cannot be read, drops out of the averages until it moves again. A figure that does not fit is refused, never smoothed.
Averaging
A city’s buy and sell are the median of its fresh boards, after any board more than three percent from the others is set aside. With a single board the figure is shown and labelled indicative. The official rate is kept beside the market and never averaged into it.
Publication
Every figure is published with the time of its last reading in Baghdad, and every office board is named, so you can open the board itself and see the same number.
Please note
Rates are for information. The rate an office gives you can differ, and it is the office’s rate that applies to your transaction.
